Sporting Aims and Achievements

Regular exercise is essential if children are to stay healthy.gymnastics  Each week all children enjoy two sessions of PE based on the requirements of the National Curriculum.

The PE scheme of work provides a balanced programme of activities including gymnastics, dance, athletics, games and swimming (see below). There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities offered via the Primary Link project and a different coaching activity is offered after school each half term.  Last year the children enjoyed basketball, rugby, hockey, football, cricket and netball.

Children can also benefit from after-school coaching sessions at Darlaston Community Science College and this year children attended Kwik-cricket and table tennis to mention just two.

We continue to participate in local and borough-wide sporting events such as cricket and athletic tournaments and in July 2004 the Year 6 team won the Athletics trophy for the first time in nine years!

Swimming
Swimming is taught to all children from Year 2 onwards.  Year 1 pupils swim at Pinfold Street Learner Pool, whilst from Year 2 onwards the children swim at Darlaston Town Baths.
