School Council

The school has an active School Council.  The children in eachmeeting round a table class, from Reception to Year 6, elect two school council members, who attend regular meetings with the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.  It is an opportunity for the children to raise issues of importance for them, as well as a chance for the school management to get the children’s opinions on changes proposed in the school.

Recent consultations have included:

  • Reviewing the school rules and behaviour policy
  • Playground equipment and rules
  • Healthy eating and tuck
The school councillors are also involved in interviewing the candidates for vacant teaching posts.  In the past they have also been involved in the selection process for the Deputy Headteacher (currently Acting Headteacher), Mrs Reese and our current headteacher, Mr Klekot.  The children took their responsibilities very seriously and were very perceptive in their feedback to the interview panel.
