Attendance and Punctuality
Punctuality
The morning bell goes at 8.45 am. At this time your child needs toalarm clock be in the playground awaiting collection by their teacher. If your child arrives after the register is taken at 8.55 am they will be registered as late. Last year late marks accounted for 2.6% of all sessions. This is a SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT ON LAST YEAR'S FIGURE OF 4%, so well done to all of you for getting to school on time more often. (information to be updated) We are still going to work hard to reduce this figure to less than 1.5% for the coming academic year.
Attendance
Please telephone the school ON THE FIRST DAY your child is absent. Our Home/School Liaison Officer, Mrs Williams, telephones all families if their children have not arrived at school and we have not heard from the parents. Each year there is a special event organised for children with the best attendance. Last year the ‘Fantastic Fifty’ had a day at the West Midlands Safari Park. The School Council decide each year on how many children should take part and what the trip should be, within a given budget.
Actual Attendance
The school target for attendance is 95%. Attendance for the last academic year was (to be updated), which is better than the average attendance for schools in Walsall and is slightly better than the Government target for primary schools - so we are very pleased with this figure. There were unauthorised absences of (to be updated); many of these were for occasional day's holiday and other reasons such as birthdays.
An information leaflet – ‘Attendance Matters’ - is available for parents. Copies are available from the school reception.
