Excellence in Walsall

Nearly five years ago, the school was lucky enough to be chosen as a founder member of the Walsall Excellence Cluster.  This meant that the school received additional funding from the Government to help develop initiatives to raise standards.

Since then the schools in the cluster have worked together to develop a number of key areas:

• An improvement in attendance and punctuality  
• Wider use of ICT across the curriculum
• A learning Mentor in every school to mentor pupils with barriers to learning and to provide before, during and after school activities
• Identification of and provision for Gifted and Talented pupils
• Development of different teaching styles to meet the needs of different learners
• Out-of-hours activities 
  

The additional funding has benefited the children enormously - we now have one of the best facilities for ICT in Walsall, and a staff who are confident in using it to enthuse the children.  The opportunity to share ideas with other schools has also been a great success.

As more and more schools come under the Excellence in Walsall banner this year we are looking forward to even greater successes in the future.
